So teething can be a very stressful time for both the baby and a mom.And teething can actually start several months before the teeth actually erupt through the gum.

So there are a couple of ways to approach teething.The easiest is to get some nice cool frozen toys or a frozen washcloth and chew toy so that the baby can relieve the pain by kind of chewing through it.And again, those are readily available at many pharmacies and baby stores.
If the pain is really bad,you can speak to your doctor about giving them Advil or Tylenol or Baby Motrin to help the discomfort.

There are also a lot of topical options like this one,which is a benzocaine-free teething paste that actually numbs the gum.And they’re made by lots of different brands such as Anbesol and Oragel.Some of them have an ingredient called benzocaine in them and some do not,but what they essentially do is help numb the area, and help decrease some of the pain for the baby.

How you would put that on would be to dip a little bit of the gel on a Q-tip,hold the baby’s face, pressing on the cheeks to release the mouth.And putting it in any area that you saw that was noticeably red,which may be the hurting tooth, or just simply on the gums themselves top and bottom.Taking a little Q-tip, rubbing on the bottom of the gum, rubbing on the top of the gum.And these are very harmless. This one is natural so if the baby swallows it, it’s not a problem,but it does help during that process.

So using something like this and a teething toy, or if it’s really bad this,a teething toy and an Advil may really help your child during this time.So eventually, the teeth will come through and they will be a lot happier.
