This is the first time I worked on a home interior design project with Chinese clients.(Xiaodaoshenye，Architect)The most interesting and most surprising thing is that they would check out stuff online, like, on Taobao, things like beautiful lighting devices and small objects for the project. In Japan, clients would keep some distance from the architects; while in China, they choose to get involved.
第一次和中国的顾客一起合作家装项目，（小嶋申也 建筑师）最有趣，也是最让我吃惊的地方是他们可以自己在网上比如淘宝什么的，找到很多漂亮的照明设备和小物件之类的，来提出方案，在日本，建筑师和顾客之间有一点距离，而中国人是积极地提出方案参与进来。
Home of Seven and Eric. I am interested in the way people live in Shanghai. It is our first project in Shanghai. When I firstly saw this apartment, there was a corridor in the middle, dividing the place from the north to the south. It looked bit dim inside, and the place looked bit old. The lines of the whole place were oblique, and it felt more complicated.
Seven&Eric的家。我对上海人的生活方式很感兴趣，这是我们在上海的第一个项目，第一次看到这套房子的感受是，这个家的中间有一个走廊，北边和南边的房子被走廊分开，感觉屋里很昏暗，而且因为房子有点老，所以整个房子的线条都是斜的，感觉比较复杂。
The client wanted a big, open space, where they could study with kids and eat together. They needed a space where people spend most of time.The client thought there were five windows facing the south next to each other, which was the biggest characteristic and charm of this place. The sunlight could get into the place thoroughly, so we chose this plan.
顾客想要很大的，开放的空间，想在那个空间和孩子一起学习，一起吃饭，想在这个大空间里度过一天的大部分生活，顾客觉得朝南方向有五个连着的窗户，会成为这套房子的特点和很大的魅力。而且阳光会彻底照进这个空间。所以选择了这个方案。
The cement ceiling of the living room is exposing as the way it is, which follows the customer's opinion. The client liked the demolished look of the place and wanted to keep it that way. We designed a 9-meter long bar for the windows. The width of the bar varies, and the narrow part is for the kid to draw and study.The wide part is for computers or work. We used this irregular- shaped long table to solve the visual issues. There is a line of low cabinets towards the bedroom. The low table isn’t rectangle-shaped. In order to make the surface look parallel with each other, we designed it to be echelon-shaped.
客厅的水泥天花板是原生态裸露的，这是顾客的意见，顾客看到房子被拆后的样子，觉得这样露出来也挺好的，朝南方向五个窗户的前面，设计了大约9米的长吧台，这个（吧台）的深度是都不一样的，窄的地方都是用来跟小朋友画画、学习，这种长的地方是放这些电脑，工作也可以，我们用长的这种异形的长桌，来解决这种视角上的角度的问题。通往卧室的方向也有一排矮柜，那个矮桌也不是长方形的，为了能与各个面相对平行，设计成了梯形。
You have to pay attention to details if you try to make the space comfortable. For example, the design of the baseboard is normally protruding, but our baseboards stay inside the wall. So it would be easy if you want to display furniture right to the wall.Also, normal outlets for air conditioning have ugly frames, so our workers made them on their own.
进入这个空间感觉舒服的话，就说明这里细节处理得很好，比如说踢脚线的设计，一般的踢脚线是凸出墙面的，可是我们这次的踢脚板是没有凸出来的，所以将来要把家具贴在墙体放也很容易。还有空调的出风口，一般的出风口是有外框的，但是那个框子的长条横的线不好看，这个是让工人特意做的。
We used OSB material for the right side of the corridor, which is usually used as the base of walls. It is natural material with reasonable pricing. This material is made of small pieces of wood chips. The size and color of the sawdust are not the same. Very beautiful.We used this material on the surface. We also worked on the lighting for the OSB wall. In order to let the light illuminate naturally from the top to the bottom and find the perfect effect, we tested several times on the site.
走廊的右边使用的OSB材料，一般是用作建筑墙体的底子，但我们觉得它价格低，又是天然的材料，这个材料是用小小的木屑做成的，木屑的尺寸和颜色参差不一，很漂亮。所以这次试着把这种材料用在了表面上，照亮OSB墙的灯光也是一样，为了能让光从上到下自然地直泻下来，我们在现场测试了好几次。终于找到了最漂亮的灯光。
We also pay close attention to sockets and swathes. We used champagne gold switches for the wooden wall, and white ones for the white wall, to avoid them standing out.
插座、开关也是我们用心来设计的，木头的墙壁使用的香槟金色的,白色墙壁的话使用白色的插座，开关，让开关和插座都不显眼。
Home is where we live every day. You will get bored if you over-decorate it, so design is not always about adding things, sometimes it is about deleting things.
住宅是每天生活的地方，每天对着过度的装饰的话，会让人厌烦，所以设计不是一味地做加法，适度的减法也是很重要的。
