I have started collecting New Year paintings since 2007, and now I have around one thousand kinds. 我收藏年画是从2007年,前前后后收藏了一千多种,都是我自己亲自去乡下采集的。尹琪“岁”创始人。过年的时候是旺季,不再作画了,主要是在销售,年画其实跟人们去乞求平安、祈福、盼望财源广进,装饰都有关系。(空城计 山东平度),其实它有更大的是一个宣传性。(三英战吕布 山东平度)。年画就相当于以前的电视机,(杨家将 山东平度),家长给你讲这年画是什么什么,把这故事说出来。

Right now, it is bit difficult to collect New Year Paintings, because there are not a lot of people involved in this industry any more. There are problems about current material and color, even its production method. The paper is not good, and the ink is not well-done. I might be meticulous when I collect New Year Paintings. The image has to be clear and the print has to be perfect.The eyes of animals or people must be bright and shining. People always ask me what’s the difference between these New Year Paintings. I said, they are how their locals are.
现在下面去收年画的话,相对来说比较难,从事这个行业的人不是特别多,现在用的原材料和颜色,制作方法是有问题的,这纸有点太什么,这没施好墨,我收年画可能比较挑剔,一般是画面首先要干净,然后套色要准。如果是动物或人物的话,一定是眼睛有神,很多人经常问我,这些年画有什么区别啊,我说你想想当地人是什么样子,它就是什么样子。

I did the New Year Painting exhibition for the first time in 2010. The designer for the posters was John, then we wanted to something better. I met Hong Zhen when I was working at Hansheng. We invited him to join us, now we are a team of three.
我第一次办年画展的时候是2010年,海报的设计师就是John,后来我们说的话,能不能做一些更好的东西,跟宏震认识是我在汉声工作的时候认识的,然后就把他拉入伙了,然后这样的话就成为我们现在这个,三个人的团队。

I want to focus on New Year gifts because it is really hard to pick up gifts in the market. Door gods don't look like door gods, even use cartoons for it. It is not right. I want to represent the real culture. You can’t just download a picture online, we want to do it originally and show the best part of our culture.
我想做年礼这套东西的话是因为,去市场选东西的时候,是极其难选东西,那门神哪是门神啊,甚至来说那卡通人物都上了,这是不对的。那这样的话,我能不能做一套我自己心目中的东西,把正确的传统文化表达出来,让门神不是说从图库里下载的那个门神,一定是把原汁原味的,我们自己好的文化拿出来。

(Zhong Kui, Wu Qiang, Hebei),To our design, the traditional lines can not be changed. It is like the soul to a person, passing down by generations. It is where the beauty is.In terms of variables in design, we can apply elements, and put different images together for montage and toning.
(钟馗 河北武强),关于我们的设计来说的话,不可变的话,是传统的线条,我觉得线条的话就相当于一个人的灵魂,这是老祖宗一代代留下来的东西,你就用就好了,美就在那里。可变的话,其实我们设计当中,经常会运用提取元素,然后可能把不同的图放到一起去拼接、调色。

The environment has changed a lot over the time. People normally used to have double front doors, thus the door god is very big. Nowadays, apartments mostly have single doors. If just use the old door god, it would be too big. Now we make the size of door god smaller and slightly elongate it. Thus the impact would be stronger. (Door god sticker, Digital print).
当下的环境因为已经有了很大变化,以前是两扇门,所以门神是很大的,当下门已经大部分公寓门已经是单扇的门,如果是把传统的年画原封不动地拿回来贴,是贴不下的,所以这样我们自己做的时候,把门神这尺寸变得稍微小一些,稍微拉长一点,这样的话冲击力会更强一些。(门神贴 数码印刷)。

This year, we used 24 kinds of paper and materials. Different  kind of paper and materials try to present different feelings and texture for each red-pocket. You can check out the Zhong Kui red pocket, and it uses rough paper to give out a sense of boldness.If you use smooth and soft paper, you will lose the sense of simplicity and plainness. So we have to match the paper with the graphics.
今年的话是用了24种纸张与材质,每款红包是用什么样的纸张、什么样的材质,它会表现更好,钟馗那个红包你可以去看一看,可以告诉大家那是用的大地纸,它的粗犷感觉,用大地这款纸表现的话,一下就表现出来。如果用特别细腻的话,它就失去了本来那种很拙朴的味道,所以我们选纸张的时候,一定图案和材质是匹配的。

Three of us do everything on our own, even packaging. We feel more involved this way.I particularly love Caishen, who is very generous. Only when you are willing to “lose”, you can “gain” in return. In order to gain things back, you have to be charitable first.
我们三个什么都想亲力亲为,打包可能都是要我们自己做,希望有自己的印记在里面。其实我特别喜欢财神,财神其实是散财之人,因为有失才有得,小失小得,大失大得,不失不得,所以大家应该是学会去施,然后施是施善,然后你才会有所得。
